In 1984 Massam Transport started with one truck, as a general carrier company.

Massam Transport Limited became an incorporated company in 1997. Our focus used to be on moving bulk freight and butchery. From 1999, the core focus of our business shifted from being general carriers to transporting containers. By 2012, we had grown to a fleet of 15 trucks.

Positive word of mouth and maintaining great relationships with our clients was, and still is, an essential part of our success.


We are a privately-owned company that focuses on transporting containers. Over four years our fleet has over doubled in size, and we now have 38 trucks. Our fleet is constantly being upgraded to newer and better trucks. We have improved the image and visibility of our fleet through sign-writing, plus we use real-time tracking of our trucks through GPS.

Our workload has increased dramatically over the years. On average we move between 300-400 containers a day. In order to allow for our expansion, we moved offices, upgraded our phones and embraced new technology. We are always looking for ways to be more efficient to be able to provide a better service to our customers.

And we deliver with a difference. We pledge to support local community, our staff and New Zealand charities with any profits. Our service is built on relationships, a belief in the importance of community, and creating a culture of excellence – we believe that better business practices lead to better people which results in a better NZ. We take care of our staff, clients and containers by following the highest Health and Safety standards.

Our vision of continual improvement and growth is on target and we welcome new clients on board. Our focused sales person is dedicated to taking care of new and existing clients. We are driven to deliver excellent customer service and to listen and respond to ways that we can improve.


Even though we are a small company, we have big aspirations. We aim to be New Zealand’s top transport service for containers. In the next five to ten years we can see ourselves doubling in size, covering more area, and expanding branches into the other major ports of New Zealand.

And our track record is proof that we can do this, as we already have grown exponentially in a short amount of time.

But we never lose sight of our principles and values. We always maintain the highest level of commitment to integrity, knowledge, and excellent service. We want to continue to stand out from our competitors by always being solution-oriented and exceeding our clients’ expectations.

We invest in improvements and have embraced cutting-edge technology. We have implemented TLP software which means that our systems can cope with the increased complexity of our tasks. It is fully integrated between us, our clients and the ports.
